Notes from Our Director: 

We're offering a variety of classes and events for all ages this month, with lots of Halloween fun!  We're seeking donations for our Free Halloween Costume Giveaway on Saturday, October 14 from 10:00a.m.-4:00p.m. We're currently accepting donations of any clean, used or new costumes, masks, wigs, and accessories for children, teens, and adults. Donations can be dropped off any time during the library's hours of operation through Thursday, October 12. Thank you!

Also, don't miss our Halloween Parade and Party, co-sponsored by the library and the Castleton Fire Department. The parade leaves from the library at 2:00p.m. on Saturday, October 28, led by a fire truck! The parade ends at the firehouse, where we'll enjoy treats and enjoy crafts and games. All ages are welcome.

Weekly Events
Pajama Storytime

Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m.

October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31.

Feel free to wear your pajamas or bring a stuffed animal friend to this evening storytime! Ages birth-8. 

Learn & Play Storytime 

Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. 

October 5, 12, 19, 26; November 2.


Children from birth to age 5 are invited to enjoy stories, rhymes, music, and movement while building their early literacy and motor skills!
Bridge Club

Fridays at 10:30 a.m. 

October 6, 13, 20, 27; November 3.


Come play bridge with us! Geared toward beginners and players who need a refresher.

Pick up anytime from Monday, October 2 through Saturday, October 28.

October StoryWalk @ Schodack Island State Park: Acorn Was a Little Wild

Location: Schodack Island State Park, 1 Schodack Island Way, Schodack Landing, NY 12156. 

The StoryWalk begins near the playground and is available anytime! 

Enjoy a StoryWalk with your family! Acorn Was a Little Wild by Jen Arena will be up all month long. We change the StoryWalk book each month.

October StoryWalk @ Schodack Town Park: Yellow Time

Location: Schodack Town Park, 498 Poyneer Road, Nassau, NY 12123

The StoryWalk begins near the playground and is available anytime when the park is open! 

Enjoy a StoryWalk with your family! Yellow Time by Lauren Stringer will be up all month long. We change the StoryWalk book each month.

After Dinner Book Club - Taste: My Life Through Food by Stanley Tucci

Kids Cook: Chocolate Pretzel Sticks

Free Halloween Costume Giveaway

Saturday, October 14, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Browse a selection of donated Halloween costumes, wigs, masks, and accessories & pick out costumes to take home! Donations of clean, gently used items accepted through Thu., 10/13.
Friends of CPL Pasta Dinner Fundraiser

Saturday, October 14, 4:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Pick-Up Location: Residence at 110 Green Avenue, Castleton, NY 12033


Enjoy a tasty dinner and support the library! Dinner is baked ziti with meatballs. All dinners come with salad, bread, and a brownie. Take out only -- please preorder. Place your preorder and choose your pick-up time by visiting tinyurl.com/CPL-Pasta or by calling 518-466-8051.
CPL Board of Trustees Meeting

Monthly meeting of the library’s Board of Trustees. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

Clown Storytime

Let's get happy and enjoy some giggles! We will read a story together, and then Zippy the Clown will tell us funny jokes and show us how to make balloon animals.

Halloween Crafts

Join us at the library to make fun Halloween crafts! All ages welcome.

Halloween Parade & Party

Saturday, October 28, 2:00 p.m.

Join the walking parade, which begins at the library at 2:00 led by a fire truck! Parade ends at the firehouse, where we’ll enjoy treats, crafts, and games. Co-sponsored by Castleton Public Library and the Castleton Fire Department. Funding provided by the Castleton-Schodack Kiwanis Club.

Duct Tape Crafts

Thursday, November 2, 2:00-6:00 p.m.

Stop in to make wallets, bow ties, flowers, and more! All ages welcome.

Marble Run Fun

Saturday, November 4, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Design & build a unique maze for a marble to go through, then drop a marble in and watch it work!

Did you know that we have a playlist of Virtual Storytime episodes that you can watch anytime? All episodes are created by Miss Joelle, our Youth Services Librarian.

Borrow a WiFi Hotspot

Did you know that we loan WiFi hotspots? They can be borrowed for 14 days -- all you need is your library card! Hotspots are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can only be checked out and returned at CPL. Call 518-732-0879 or email [email protected] for more information. 
WiFi Inside & Outside Our Building

Our WiFi is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can access the public WiFi on the front lawn, or alongside the building on Stimpson Avenue (the signal is strongest near the front of the building). Just look for the network called "Castleton Public Library." There's no password to connect!
