Notes from Our Director:

Summer is just around the corner, and we're gearing up for our annual Summer Reading Program! We have many exciting programs to attend and activities to complete, keeping kids and teens engaged and active all summer long.

Over the summer, students risk losing some of the achievement gains they made during the previous school year. Participating in Summer Reading helps maintain reading skills and helps kids and teens stay motivated to learn. We also have an early literacy component of our program to engage babies, toddlers, and preschoolers and help get them ready to read.

And Summer Reading isn't just for kids. We're offering programs that are fun for the whole family, as well as programs for adults. By participating in the Summer Reading Program, children, teens, and adults can also enter to win a number of great prizes!

Summer fun at the library begins on Friday, June 23 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. when the library hosts our Summer Reading Kickoff Party. Come sign up for our Summer Reading Program and enjoy some free ice cream. Can't make it to the party? Registration is open all summer long!

We hope you will join us for a summer full of fun and learning!

Computer Help

Learn the basics of computer use or ask questions in a one-on-one setting. Please call the library during regular business hours to register (518-732-0879) or email our Director.

Mountain View Cemetery Tour

Saturday, June 3, 10:00 a.m.

Location: Mountain View Cemetery, Scott Avenue, Castleton, NY 12033

Enjoy a tour of Mountain View Cemetery. Explore the crypt and the historic section of the cemetery, and see the cemetery’s impressive markers. Tour meets near the Veterans Memorial on 43 Scott Avenue. Bring your own lawn chair and picnic lunch to enjoy afterward (optional). Sponsored by the Historical Society of Esquatak and the Castleton Cemetery Association.

After Dinner Book Club - Appointment in Samarra

7th graders from MHMS are looking forward to sharing a variety pack of stories with you. Come hear tall tales, spooky stories, and stories to make you laugh out loud!

World Wide Knit in Public Day @ CPL

It's World Wide Knit in Public Day! Knitters -- from beginner to experienced -- are invited to come knit and chat in the library.

Friends of CPL Pasta Dinner & Silent Auction

Saturday, June 10, 5:00-8:00 p.m.

Location: Castleton Fire House, 11 Green Avenue, Castleton, NY 12033

Enjoy a pasta dinner with garden salad, fresh bread from Mercato’s Restaurant, and a beverage for just $8.00 per person! Browse and bid for items in the Silent Auction. All proceeds benefit the library.

Yard Yahtzee

Wednesday, June 14, 4:00 p.m.

Come down to the library and play a giant version of one of our favorite games! We'll play Yahtzee on the front lawn, but in case of bad weather we'll play inside. For ages 7 and up.

Father's Day Crafts
