Weekly Events
Pajama Storytime

Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m.

February 6, 13, 20, 27.

Feel free to wear your pajamas or bring a stuffed animal friend to this evening storytime! Ages birth-8. 

Learn & Play Storytime 

Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. 

February 1, 8, 15, 22, 29.


Children from birth to age 5 are invited to enjoy stories, rhymes, music, and movement while building their early literacy and motor skills!
Our Take-Home Kits
Take & Make Craft Kit: Dinosaurs

Pick up anytime from Sunday, February 4 through Saturday, March 2.

Are you a dinosaur fan? Make awesome dinosaur crafts at home with this kit!
Our Other Events
Take Your Child to the Library Day

Saturday, February 3, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Visit to learn about all the fun you can have with us (and pick up a goodie bag!). We'll hold a storytime at 11:30, and will offer a drop-in craft activity from 12:00-4:00!
After Dinner Book Club - Northern Spy

Monday, February 5, 7:00 p.m.

Join us the first Monday of each month for a book discussion! Books available at the front desk. This month's title is Northern Spy by Flynn Barry. 
Teen Time: Friendship Bracelets

Thursday, February 8, 4:00 p.m. 

Come learn to make a variety of friendship bracelets! For teens in 6th-12th grades.

Hearts and Crafts

Tuesday, February 13, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. 

Celebrate Valentine's Day by making a special craft for a loved one!

Open Mic Night

Wednesday, February 14, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Musicians & poets - come share your talents! If your instrument requires an amplifier, please bring one with you. All ages welcome to perform and to watch.

 
Very Hungry Caterpillar Craft
 
Friday, February 16, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Create your very own hungry caterpillar at the library with this fun paper craft!
Sweet Structures

Saturday, February 17, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 

Using gumdrops and toothpicks, build the biggest, tallest, or weirdest structure you can! Recommended for ages 5 and up.

Giant Connect Four

Sunday, February 18, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 

Bring a friend or family member to play a game of Connect Four using our giant set.

Cool Science: Lava Lamps
 
Tuesday, February 20, 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. 

Discover the science behind how lava lamps work, and make your own simple lava lamp!

CPL Board of Trustees Meeting
 
Tuesday, February 20, 7:00 p.m. 

Monthly meeting of the library's Board of Trustees. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
Legomania
 
Wednesday, February 21, 12:00 - 8:00 p.m. 

We’ll have lots of Legos out for this all-day build-a-thon -- come build something awesome!
 
Afternoon Book Club - Bittersweet: How Sorrow and Longing Make Us Whole

Wednesday, February 21, 1:00 p.m. 

Join us the third Wednesday of each month for a book discussion! Books available at the front desk. This month's title is Bittersweet: How Sorrow and Longing Make Us Whole by Susan Cain.

Want to help support and raise funds for the library? Come join the Friends! All are welcome. 
Special Visitor Storytime: Backyard Birds
 
Thursday, February 22, 10:30 a.m.

At this special storytime, an environmental educator from Schodack Island State Park will teach us about birds we might see in our neighborhoods, and we'll make a pine cone bird feeder for birds to enjoy this winter.
 
Kids Cook: Egg-In-A-Hole

Thursday, February 22, 4:00 p.m.

At this month's Kids Cook, learn to make a yummy breakfast of an egg inside a piece of toast!


 
Stuffed Animal Sleepover
 
Drop Off: Friday, February 23, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Pick Up: Saturday, February 24, 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.


Bring your stuffed animal to the library for a sleepover! Drop your furry friend off anytime between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 2/23. Catch a special storytime at 4:00 p.m. before saying goodbye! Then, come back to pick up your furry friend anytime between 12:00 and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, 2/24, and design a scrapbook with pictures of your stuffed animal’s adventure!

Drop in and make a tower or other exciting structure using Keva Planks!
Civil War Discussion Group

Monday, February 26, 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. 

Join us for a discussion focused on the important Battle of Antietam that occurred in Maryland in September 1862. The discussion this evening will be started by Michael Hiser using as a main source Stephen Sears' celebrated book, Landscape Turned Red: The Battle of Antietam.

Did you know that we have a playlist of Virtual Storytime episodes that you can watch anytime? All episodes are created by Miss Joelle, our Youth Services Librarian. 
Enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes with us, on your schedule!

Borrow a WiFi Hotspot

Did you know that we loan WiFi hotspots? They can be borrowed for 14 days -- all you need is your library card! Hotspots are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can only be checked out and returned at CPL. Call 518-732-0879 or email [email protected] for more information. 
WiFi Inside & Outside Our Building

Our WiFi is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can access the public WiFi on the front lawn, or alongside the building on Stimpson Avenue (the signal is strongest near the front of the building). Just look for the network called "Castleton Public Library." There's no password to connect!
