Notes from Our Director:

Feel the library love this month at CPL! In celebration of Valentine's Day, stop in during the week of February 8-13 to make a "Blind Date with a Book." Our librarians will select a variety of books for children, teens, and adults, and wrap them in red wrapping paper with a little information about the book on the outside. You won’t know the "identity" of your blind date until you check it out. We'll also have sweet treats to give out that week!

The following week, February 15-19, CPL will host a number of winter break programs for kids and teens. Come create, play, and build at your library! A full list of February programs can be found below.

Also during the month of February, we will remove $1.00 in overdue fines from your account for each nonperishable food item or personal care item you bring to the library to donate to the Anchor food pantry. This offer is for overdue fines, and does not apply to charges for lost items. It's a great way to clear up any fines you have, while you help others in the community.

Do you have any suggestions or comments about the library? We'd love to hear from you. Stop by, give us a call at 518-732-0879, or send an email to [email protected].

Best,

Melissa Tacke, Library Director

Notes from Our Director:

As we head into a new year, it's a great time to discover -- or rediscover -- the resources available at your library. Last month's newsletter mentioned some library services you might not be aware of. Here are a few more:
  • We recently added access to the Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL) to our resources. GVRL is a collection of specialized and up-to-date resources on a number of topics, including test prep, career and job search resources, computers and technology, finances, cooking, and more, available 24/7 with no checkout! Titles can be browsed, searched and downloaded at any time from any internet-connected device. Need help? Our staff can answer your questions and connect you with the resources you need.
  • Starting February 9, we are pleased to be able to offer a legal clinic on a monthly basis, the second Tuesday of each month from 5:30-7:00 pm. Get a free, private, and confidential consultation with an experienced attorney. This service is made available through The Legal Project. Appointments are required; contact Jennifer Latte at 518-435-1770 or email [email protected].
  • Did you know that the library offers fax services? You can send or receive a fax for just $1.00 per page, any time that the library is open.
  • Do you love audiobooks? In addition to our collection of audiobooks, we also host a rotating collection of audiobooks from Upper Hudson Library System. The rotating collection of 20-30 titles changes every two months. Stop in and see what's available! Remember, you can also request any titles available in the Upper Hudson Library System Catalog.
We always welcome your suggestions and comments! Stop in, give us a call at 518-732-0879, or send an email to [email protected].

All of us at Castleton Public Library look forward to serving you in 2016!

Best,
