Explore your sense of gratitude with our Thankful Turkeys take-home craft kit, stop in to create your own Gratitude Holder on November 23, or stop in to make a Woven Thanksgiving Placemat on November 26 to make your Thanksgiving celebration extra-special! November is a great time to think about what you are thankful for. For this fun craft, you'll trace your hand to be a turkey's feathers and then write something you're thankful for on each feather! Weekly Events Learn & Play Storytime Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. - November 6, 13, 20. Children from birth to age 5 are invited to enjoy stories, rhymes, music, and movement! Our Other Events Repurposed Book Page Projects Sunday, November 2, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Give old book pages new life! Join us for a creative, hands-on program where we’ll transform discarded pages into beautiful crafts and unique art pieces. All supplies provided—just bring your imagination! Job Seeker Help with Rensselaer County Career Center Monday, November 3, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Looking for a new job or fresh career path? Rensselaer County Career Center is here to help! Professional career services include resume development, interview preparation, job search assistance, and career assessment. After Dinner Book Club Monday, November 3, 7:00 p.m. Join us the first Monday of each month for a book discussion! This month's selection is The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness by Jonathan Haidt. Books are available at the front desk. Kids Cook Around the World: Porridge Tuesday, November 4, 2:30 - 5:30 p.m. Learn the history and versatility of this cozy food and sample some for yourself while adding a stamp to your passport! Teen Advisory Council Tuesday, November 4, 2:30 - 5:30 p.m. Teens ages 12-17 -- earn volunteer hours and assist in planning teen events at the library! All ideas welcome.  Understanding HUD Homes: Opportunities, Process, and Purchasing Tips Wednesday, November 5, 6:00 p.m. Join us for an informative presentation on HUD Homes, where you'll learn what HUD Homes are, who is eligible to purchase them, and how the buying process works from start to finish. Drop-In Tech Help Thursday, November 6, 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Stop in anytime with tech questions that our on-site tech guru can help to answer. Color by Number   Friday, November 7, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Join us for a relaxing day of color by number! No experience is needed to create your own work of art. We'll provide the materials and you match the colors to the numbers! All ages welcome. Build with Cardboard Bricks Saturday - Sunday, November 8-9, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. See what you can create out of our large cardboard bricks that are perfect for building! Fiber Arts Workshop   Monday, November 10, 6:00 p.m. For ages 16 and up. Join us for our monthly Fiber Arts Workshop! Whether you're new to knitting and crochet or a seasoned fiber artist, this is the perfect place to share and create in a friendly environment. All skill levels welcome! Yarn and hooks/needles are available to beginners. Open Mic Night   Wednesday, November 12, 6:00 p.m. Musicians & poets - come share your talents! All ages welcome to perform and to watch. Teen Scene: Scratch Art Decor   Thursday, November 13, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Stop by the library to make cool scratch art decor using special paper! Saturday Stories   Saturday, November 15, 11:30 a.m. Stop by for a weekend storytime and activity geared toward families with young children (ages birth-8) featuring crafts, music and movement, books, and fun! NYS Citizens Preparedness Corps Training Program   Saturday, November 15, 1:00 p.m. For adults. This course will teach you to have the tools and resources to prepare for natural and man-made disasters, respond accordingly, and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. CPL Board of Trustees Meeting   Monday, November 17, 7:00 p.m. Monthly meeting of the library's Board of Trustees. Members of the public are welcome to attend.  Afternoon Book Club   Wednesday, November 19, 1:00 p.m. Join us the third Wednesday of each month for a book discussion! This month's selection is The Swedish Art of Aging Exuberantly by Margarita Magnusson. Books are available at the front desk. Write Your Life: Memoir Writing for Adults Wednesday, November 19, 7:00 p.m. In this monthly workshop-style class, we will complete writing exercises that spark creativity and share our own pieces with the group in an effort to hone the craft of storytelling. STEAM Lab: Unicorn Slime   Friday, November 21 - STARTS ON THE HOUR at 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, and 4:00. Discover the magic behind ooey-gooey, sparkly slime! Gratitude Holders   Sunday, November 23, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Create a keepsake to celebrate thankfulness! Decorate your own fall-themed gratitude can and fill it with slips of paper to write down special moments, kind thoughts, or things you’re grateful for all season long. All supplies provided. Woven Thanksgiving Placemats   Wednesday, November 26, 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Design a colorful and unique placemat for yourself or someone you care about to share on Thanksgiving Day! Legomania   Saturday, November 29, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We’ll have lots of Legos out for this all-day build-a-thon! Perler Bead Crafts   Sunday, November 30, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Use your imagination to make awesome creations with perler beads! All ages welcome. Digital Library Resources Check Out Our Digital Collections! The Upper Hudson Library System hosts a great collection of ebooks, digital audiobooks, digital magazines, and streaming video, resources for research, and more! Click here to visit our page about digital resources.  Borrow a WiFi Hotspot Did you know that we loan WiFi hotspots? They can be borrowed for 14 days -- all you need is your library card! Hotspots are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can only be checked out and returned at CPL. Call 518-732-0879 or email [email protected] for more information.  WiFi Inside & Outside Our Building Our WiFi is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can access the public WiFi on the front lawn, or alongside the building on Stimpson Avenue (the signal is strongest near the front of the building).
